Lübeck – In 2010, the Industrieforum Design Hannover is awarding the
iF Product Design Award to two medical devices by Dräger: The Evita
Infinity V500 ventilator and the Oxylog 3000 plus emergency and
transport ventilator will receive the award for superior product design.

Women leading change
The ninth Networking Women in the Fire Service Conference (NWFS), “Women Leading Change”, was attended by over 350 delegates from all over the UK as well as overseas. Sponsored by Draeger, the Chief Fire Officers Association, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service and the Fire Service Research and Training Trust, the event combined workshops and seminars on a host of subjects of special interest to women firefighters.

Accurate breath alcohol testing for reduced drink driving limits
The proposed reductions to drink driving limits in Northern Ireland could mean that drivers will be tested at 50mg per 100ml of blood instead of the current 80mg. An additional proposal to reduce limits for professional drivers and young drivers could mean a further reduction to 20mg. Whatever the limit, the Draeger Alcotest 6810 breath alcohol measuring instrument is simple, quick and easy to use and will show an accurate, clear result that can be both recorded and printed in situ.

The children at Sure Start’s Blyth Valley Children's Centre Central Nursery were all smiles on receipt of their new high visibility jackets. Sponsored jointly by Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service and Draeger Safety, the jackets mean that the children can be seen easily when they leave the Centre on shopping trips and other outings.

County Durham and Darlington Improve Firefighter Safety
Leading edge Telemetry, longer duration lightweight cylinders and integral mask communications are now being used by County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service to improve the safety of operational personnel. As one of the latest Brigades to take delivery of the Draeger PSS Merlin Telemetry system, the Service has also been upgrading its breathing apparatus (BA) equipment over the past year to include new 300 Bar carbon composite cylinders and Draeger FPS-COM communications masks.

Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA, Lübeck, is to purchase the 25 percent minority stake in Dräger Medical AG & Co. KG held by Siemens AG, Munich. The Managing Board of Siemens AG approved the move, as did the corresponding bodies at Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA.

The lightest helmet of its kind

Lübeck, Germany – Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA finished fiscal year 2008 with an increase in net sales and stable order intake. The Company also achieved its revised earnings forecast. In 2009, the Company expects net sales to decrease by up to 5 percent. “Although we have not been hit as hard as other industries so far, we are preparing ourselves for steeper declines in order intake in light of the great uncertainty which currently surrounds all forecasts,” explained Stefan Dräger, Chairman of the Executive Board of Drägerwerk Verwaltungs AG at the annual accounts press conference in Hamburg. The Group could still achieve a positive EBIT, even if net sales were to fall by up to 15 percent, he added. ...

Superior Product Design
Not one, but two Dräger products received the iF product design award in 2009: The Ponta beam system and the Infinity C700 for IT workstation. A total of 2,808 products from 39 countries were submitted. The international selection committee awarded 802 labels for superior product design. These two medical devices were among the first Dräger products developed according to the company’s current design guidelines.

Dräger reviewing the buy-back of the Siemens stake
Drägerwerk AG & Co. KGaA (Dräger) is reviewing the buy-back of the 25 percent stake currently held by Siemens AG (Siemens) in Dräger Medical AG & Co. KG. This would increase the stake Dräger holds in the medical subsidiary to 100 percent. Dräger is currently involved in negotiations on funding.
